In order to take off the front cable, one has to first remove the driver seat and centre console. Removal of cotter pin, clevis pin, and cable connector to the parking brake lever will be at the bottom of the lever. Pry off the grommet and hold the cable through the floorpan. The unhooking of the return spring under the vehicle and taking it off the cable swivel plate occurs below the vehicle. Unscrew the bolt that holds the rear of the front cable to the cable intermediate lever, and throw away the old bolt and put in a new one on refitting. Unscrew all the retaining clips and ties in the cable, taking note of the proper installation, and unplug it out of the vehicle. To refit, reverse the steps used to remove, ensure the cable is attached to the cable intermediate lever by fitting a new bolt and finally adjust the parking brake. In the case of the rear cable, one should start by removing the corresponding set of parking brake shoes as well as the expander mechanism on one end of the cable. Unscrew the bolt holding the outer cable to the hub carrier and pull the cable out of the back of the backplate and replace the old bolt with a new bolt during refitting. Detach the fixings and fold the exhaust heat shield out of the floorpan, then detach the return spring out of the cable swivel plate. To remove the cable by sliding out the retaining clip fixing the front end of the cable to its bracket, unhooking the cable to the equaliser plate, and accessing the cable underneath the vehicle. To refit, follow the reversal of steps to remove and when it is ready, fasten the cable to the hub with a new bolt and change the parking brake.
